Boston Ballet's The Nutcracker runs from Friday, November 27 to Thursday, December 31, 2026 at the Citizens Opera House on Washington Street, in the Theatre District. This is Mikko Nissinen's production, first staged in 2012, with the Boston Ballet Orchestra playing Tchaikovsky's score at every performance and 83 students from Boston Ballet School in the cast. A performance lasts about two hours with one intermission.

Special performances

The December 4 matinee is a sensory friendly performance for neurodiverse guests and anyone who needs a more relaxed theater. On December 12 and 19 at 1:30 p.m., Boston Ballet sells an Elevated Nutcracker Experience as a premium add-on. Groups of ten or more can book through the group sales office.

Good to know

The ballet keeps the theater warmer than usual for the dancers, so dress in layers you can take off. There are moments of loud music and flashing light. Tickets are sold through Boston Ballet; prices depend on the date and seat.
