Renoir and Love is the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston's spring 2027 headline exhibition, open from February 28 to June 13, 2027 in the Ann and Graham Gund Gallery. It brings together about 40 paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir from collections in the United States and abroad, and it is the MFA's first major Renoir exhibition since 1985.

What you will see

The show concentrates on the mid-1860s to mid-1880s, when Renoir painted friendship, family and courtship in the dance halls, homes and gardens of his day. The loans include Dance at Moulin de la Galette (1876) and Dance in the Country (1883) from the Musée d'Orsay, shown alongside the MFA's own Dance at Bougival (1883). At Renoir's Home (1876) and Madame Monet and Her Son (1874) are also on the list.

Hours and tickets

• Museum hours: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday and Friday 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; closed Tuesdays. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing.
• Tickets: the MFA requires a ticket for its special exhibitions for every visitor, members included. The exhibition price had not been published when we checked; general admission is $30 for adults and $14 for ages 7-17, and free for children 6 and under.
• Member previews: February 24-27, 2027, before the public opening.

Getting there

The MFA is at 465 Huntington Avenue. Take the Green Line E branch to the Museum of Fine Arts stop, or the Orange Line or Commuter Rail to Ruggles. The main entrance is on Huntington Avenue. The museum is closed on Patriots' Day, which in 2027 is Monday, April 19, the day of the Boston Marathon.
