Boston has a food tour for most cravings: seafood at the Fish Pier or along the North End, a donut tour, a North End pizza tour, an evening chocolate walk in Back Bay, a brewery bus tour and hands-on cooking classes. Our comparison of seven North End food tours covers the classic Italian route, so this guide covers the rest. Everything below comes from each operator's own site, checked October 3, 2026, and prices, start times and menus change, so confirm when you book.

Seafood tours: the Fish Pier or the North End

Boston's seafood tours come in two kinds. Urban Adventures' Boston Seafood Experience is a 2.5-hour walk through the Seaport that goes behind the scenes at the Boston Fish Pier, which the operator describes as the oldest continuously operating fish pier in the United States, and finishes on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. It starts at 11 a.m. for the shared tour, caps shared groups at 12 and allows free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. It is built around shellfish, so it does not suit vegetarians, vegans or anyone with a shellfish allergy. You can find it on Viator as the Fish Pier seafood tour.

BostonVacay earns a commission from Viator if you book through these links, at no extra cost to you.

The other kind runs from the waterfront into the North End and the Boston Public Market. Up and Adam's three-hour Boston Seafood Tour has five tastings, including clam chowder, clams casino, lobster rolls inside the market, fried scallops and a mini cannoli, and runs daily at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for $150. Boston Pizza Tours' three-hour SeaFoodie Adventure, from $159, adds a raw bar with oysters and jumbo shrimp and a full-size lobster roll, and passes three Freedom Trail sites. To eat the same food without a guide, try Row 34 or Neptune Oyster, and see our ten things to eat in Boston.

Donut tour

Underground Donut Tour's Historic Downtown Boston tour is a sweet walk through the Financial District and the North End. It starts at Kane's Donuts, moves to the Boston Public Market for fresh cider donuts and ends at Bova's Bakery in the North End for a Boston cream donut, with history along the way. The operator lists prices as low as $55. It is a good fit for a first morning in the city, and it is on Viator as the Boston donut tour.

North End pizza tour

Boston Pizza Tours' North End Pizza Tour runs 2.5 hours for all ages, from $69, with three full-size slices, bottled water and a cannoli at the finish, and takes in five Freedom Trail sites between stops. That makes it the best fit for a visitor who wants a food stop and the history in one afternoon. See the operator's page or book it as the North End pizza tour on Viator. For pizzerias you can walk into yourself, our guide to pizza in Boston lists them, and Regina Pizzeria is the original North End location.

Chocolate tours in Back Bay

Up and Adam runs two chocolate tours in Back Bay, both starting at 888 Boylston Street and ending on Clarendon Street. The Back Bay Chocolate & Art Galleries Tour is $60, runs 2.5 hours every day at 3 p.m., covers about 1.2 miles and combines four chocolate tastings, including hot chocolate, cookies, cupcakes and chocolate hazelnut cake, with visits to two art galleries. The Evening Chocolate Tour is $55, two hours, Monday to Saturday at 7 p.m., with the same tastings and no galleries. Group size is two to twelve. The tours cannot fully accommodate gluten-free or dairy-free diets, so tell the operator before booking. The galleries version is on Viator as the Back Bay chocolate and galleries tour. For chocolate on your own, see Beacon Hill Chocolates and our Boston dessert tour guide.

Brewery tours

City Brew Tours' Signature Boston Brewery Tour is a 3.5-hour trip with three brewery stops, beer samples, behind-the-scenes access, a local snack and round-trip transportation, offered Wednesday to Sunday for $99. The site stresses 21 and over, and it does not name the three stops, so ask where the tour goes if you want to stay inside the city limits. Book through the operator or as the Boston brewery tour on Viator. If you would rather walk to one brewery, the Harpoon Brewery & Beer Hall is on Northern Avenue in the Seaport, and Boston Pizza Tours runs a 3.5-hour Historic Boston Pubs tour for ages 21 and over with a harbor ferry ride, from $129; our tavern tour guide covers the Freedom Trail's old pubs.

Cooking classes

If you would rather cook than walk, Selfup holds hands-on classes in a kitchen at 19 Kingston Street in downtown Boston. Its Italian Dinner with Tiramisu Finale, taught by Chef Gary Gianchetti, runs three hours for $120 per person and lists beer and wine. Other classes on the same page run $100: a sushi workshop, a homemade dumplings class, a Mexican dinner night and a Sunday brunch class. The Italian dinner is on Viator as the Selfup Italian cooking class.

Which Boston food tour should you pick?

For a first morning in the city, the donut tour or the pizza tour is the easiest. For seafood, choose Urban Adventures for the Fish Pier and the working-waterfront story, or Up and Adam for a tasting route through the North End and the market. For something after dark, the evening chocolate tour at 7 p.m. is the only one here that runs after dusk. The brewery tour suits adults who want a vehicle and do not mind not knowing every stop in advance, and the cooking class is the choice for a dinner you make yourself. Book a few days ahead: Up and Adam and Urban Adventures cap their shared tours at 12 people.

For the North End's classic walking tours see North End food tours compared, for sweets the dessert tour guide, and for tastings by the glass Boston wine tours. If you are buying a pass for the same trip, our Boston passes comparison explains which attractions each one covers.
