Boston Public Market is the city’s indoor, year-round market for New England food: more than 30 farmers, fishers, food producers and artisans under one roof at 100 Hanover Street, and by the market’s rule everything sold here is produced in or originates from New England, as the seasons allow. How the market came to be

The Boston Public Market Association formed in 2001, and in 2011 state and city officials settled on this site on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, directly over Haymarket station. The ground floor of 100 Hanover Street, which also holds an RMV branch and vent stacks for the I-93 tunnel, had stood vacant for more than 12 years. After the association raised $13 million, the market opened on July 30, 2015. It is part of what the market calls Boston’s Market District, with the open-air Haymarket fruit and vegetable stalls and the historic Blackstone Block next door.

Tours, classes and access

The market runs free public tours every Friday morning and hosts festivals, workshops and cooking classes through the year. Vendors accept SNAP/EBT for eligible products, and two farm stands take part in Massachusetts’ Healthy Incentives Program. If you are flying out, the market also has an outpost in Terminal C at Logan Airport.
