December Thieves is a Beacon Hill concept store for clothing, jewelry, accessories and home objects made by independent designers in small batches. Founder Lana Barakat opened the women-owned shop in 2013 and still chooses every garment, accessory and jewel, and the name comes from a line by the 13th-century poet Rumi about thieves who steal December away so that spring can arrive. The shop reads the line as a promise of constant change, and the stock follows it: much of it is handmade, nothing is reordered on a whim, and when a piece sells out it is gone.
