Hotel Commonwealth
About
Hotel Commonwealth is the Kenmore Square hotel for Red Sox fans and concertgoers: 245 rooms, with a set of rooms and suites that look directly at Fenway Park, and Kenmore station on the Green Line right at the building. Kenmore Square is in Boston; the Brookline town line is further west.
It suits game-day trips, shows at MGM Music Hall at Fenway and the House of Blues, and visits to Boston University, which begins just west of the square. For sightseeing, the Green Line runs east through Back Bay to downtown, so a car is more burden than help here.
Rooms with a ballpark view
The standard Kenmore rooms face the square and Commonwealth Avenue. The Fenway rooms face the ballpark, and the Fenway Executive Suite and Fenway Park Suite add walk-out balconies over the field side. There are also signature suites named for local themes, including Baseball, Reading, Terrier and Rathskeller. Rooms come with Frette linens, Malin+Goetz bath products and Chromecast on a 48-inch television.
Practical touches suit a short, busy stay: a DryBar hairdryer, a Snooz sound machine, a wardrobe steamer, a mini refrigerator and an in-room safe. Coffee makers and microwaves are available on request.
If a home game or a big concert falls on your dates, book early: the Fenway-facing rooms go first.
Around the hotel
The Panopticon Gallery inside the hotel shows rotating artwork, and guests have 24-hour access to the fitness center. Dogs are welcome, one per room, and the concierge can arrange dog walking, sitting and grooming. Boston University graduation in May is another weekend when rooms fill.
Restaurants and bars
Blue Ribbon Sushi is a Japanese restaurant and sushi bar at the hotel's front entrance, serving lunch and dinner daily.
Row 34 brings its seafood restaurant and oyster bar to Kenmore Square, with dinner every night and brunch into the evening on weekends.
Sam Adams Upper Deck is a seasonal rooftop-style outdoor venue overlooking Fenway Park, with craft beer, ballpark-inspired food and live entertainment. Opening dates change with the weather and private events, and the hotel posts them on Instagram.
