A Boston Duck Tour costs $57 for an adult, $48 for seniors and active military, $42 for a child aged 3 to 11 and $11 for an infant 2 and under, according to Boston Duck Tours' published rates as of September 2026. The company adds a 5% Convention Center Fee and a $2 per-ticket fee online ($3.50 by phone), so one adult ticket bought online comes to roughly $62.

That pays for an 80-minute narrated tour in an amphibious vehicle: about 60 minutes on city streets and about 20 minutes on the Charles River. Below are the ticket prices, the charges that are not in them, the ways to spend less and how to pick a departure point.

Boston Duck Tour ticket prices as of September 2026

TicketPriceNotes
Adult$57Ages 12 and up
Senior and active military$48
Child$42Ages 3 to 11
Infant$11Ages 2 and under; a seat is required by the Coast Guard

All four prices exclude the 5% Convention Center Fee and the booking fee. Tickets are sold for a specific date, time and departure point, go on sale 30 days in advance, and are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

What costs extra

Fees. Expect the 5% Convention Center Fee on every ticket, plus $2 per ticket online or $3.50 per ticket by phone. Buying in person at a ticket booth avoids the booking fee but not the 5% fee, and on busy days the booth may have nothing left.

Tips. For individual guests, tipping the driver-guide is at your discretion. Groups of 20 or more and private charters are charged an automatic 10% staff and gratuity fee.

Getting there. Two of the three departure points sit in shopping and museum complexes with paid garages, and Boston parking adds up quickly. The T is cheaper: the Prudential Center has its own Green Line E branch stop, Science Park station on the Green Line serves the Museum of Science, and Aquarium station on the Blue Line is about 100 yards from the New England Aquarium.

What a family of four pays

Two adults and two children aged 3 to 11 pay $198 in ticket prices. The 5% fee brings that to about $208, and the online fee to about $216 before any tip. A family with a toddler must add an $11 infant ticket, because every guest needs a seat.

How to save on a Boston Duck Tour

  • Book a morning tour online. The company has offered an online code, EARLYDUCK, worth up to $10 off 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. departures. When we checked, its page still said it was valid through the 2025 season, so confirm it applies before you count on it.
  • Travel as a group. Group packages start at 20 people, and teachers and schools have their own discounts.
  • Buy early in the day. On summer weekends tickets often sell out by noon, and the cheapest plan is the one you do not have to rebook.

Which departure point to choose

All three departure points run the same 80-minute tour and splash into the Charles River.

  • Prudential Center, Back Bay. Tours leave every hour or half hour. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles run from here; call 617-450-0068 ahead.
  • Museum of Science, West End. Also every hour or half hour, with accessible vehicles, and it pairs with a museum visit.
  • New England Aquarium, waterfront. The closest option to the cruise terminals and the harbor, and a short walk from Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

Is the Boston Duck Tour worth the price?

For a first visit, especially with children, it is the quickest way to see the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, the State House area and the river in one seat, and the splash into the water is the part people remember. If you mainly want history, the free, self-guided Freedom Trail covers the main Revolutionary sites on foot for nothing. Tours run rain or shine and you will not get soaked, though wind can blow light spray on the river. If bad weather cancels the water portion you get half the price back, and a fully cancelled tour is refunded in full.
