Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse
About
Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse at 75 Arlington Street is where Steve DiFillippo's restaurant group began. In 1985, at 24, he bought a family restaurant called Davio's on Newbury Street and rebuilt it around regional Italian cooking with a focus on the grill; after earlier homes that also included Brookline and Cambridge, the Boston restaurant now sits in Park Square, on the edge of Back Bay.
It is built for business dinners, family celebrations and a meal before a show, with a white-tablecloth dining room, an open kitchen and a lounge for after-work drinks. A pre-theater menu is served every night, so an early dinner before a show does not have to be rushed.
Steaks and handmade pasta
The restaurant describes its signatures as Northern Italian steaks, veal chops and handmade pasta. The dinner menu runs from 55-day prime aged strip steaks and ribeyes to a 16-ounce veal rib chop, and from hand-rolled potato gnocchi to tagliatelle Bolognese and Maine lobster risotto. The Philly cheese steak spring rolls, a Davio's trademark, are on the menu too, along with seafood towers for the table.
Set menus
A three-course pre-theater prix fixe is available every night until 7 p.m. On weekdays, a pasta tasting menu is served at the Chef's Table for lunch or dinner, with optional wine pairings; gluten-free pasta is available on request.
Private dining
Private rooms seat groups of 15 to 100 for a full dinner and up to 200 for receptions, from the Wine Room for 12 to 24 to the combined Arlington and Berkeley rooms for up to 100. For larger events, the adjacent Galleria atrium of the 10 St. James building holds receptions of up to 800. Davio's also runs a To Go Shop in that atrium on weekdays.
Parking
Valet is offered on busy evenings, and validated self-parking is available after 5 p.m. in the attached 10 St. James garage; the rates are in the FAQ.
